Asuka has been absent from WWE television for a while now due to injury, and her return to the ring is something that fans are looking forward to. Inside the ring, there are few better workers on the entire roster, and that is why her return will add a lot to the company.
There are plenty of excellent wrestlers in the women’s division right now for WWE, and that gives the creative team a lot of options to work with. Certain feuds are waiting for Asuka that audiences are very excited about, while there are others that the company could avoid for her first return.
10 Should Face: Sasha Banks
Sasha Banks has been stuck for a little while without a major storyline, even though she has been operating on an extremely high level inside the ring. That is something that Asuka could provide for her, with this being a storyline that people would love to see go down.
Matches between these women are always enjoyable, with Banks being able to sell all of Asuka’s incredible offense. Meanwhile, she can give as good as she gets, which always leads to an engaging encounter. WWE would be smart to make this one happen, as they can bring a lot to the business.
9 Shouldn’t Face: Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair is a top name for WWE, and she’s someone who always is given big opportunities. Because of that, it is easy to see how the company could choose her as Asuka’s first rival on her return. However, this is a storyline that WWE has done previously.
While it could end up being fantastic to see, as the two of them work together well, it would be a little repetitive. There are a lot of other options that the company should consider before going back to face Charlotte again.
8 Should Face: Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey is somebody that Asuka has never competed against, therefore WWE has a huge match on their hands with this one. Asuka would bring something out of Rousey that nobody else can, simply due to her in-ring style, with her love of striking being great to watch.
Ronda also likes to throw hands while working on submissions. Blending that with what Asuka can do might lead to a brilliant encounter. It’s a main event style match, and that is why WWE might consider doing it.
7 Shouldn’t Face: Rhea Ripley
The last major storyline that Asuka had before being taken off television was with Rhea Ripley, and while it was excellent, that is also why WWE should avoid this one. It would be going back to something that is reasonably familiar in the minds of the WWE Universe, which isn’t a good idea.
There’s no doubt that they will end up meeting again down the line because Ripley is one of the biggest stars in the business right now. But at the moment, this is one that WWE should hold off on taking place.
6 Should Face: Alexa Bliss
Asuka is a brilliant professional wrestler, and Alexa Bliss is one of the best talkers in the business. Putting those two elements together in a storyline could lead to a great storyline. If WWE keeps Alexa’s darker gimmick, while removing some of the silliness that has existed, it could be very interesting.
Seeing how Asuka tries to overcome that, purely letting her in-ring work do the talking for her, would be an easy angle to work with here. It is a fresh rivalry that hasn’t been done for a while, especially with this version of Alexa, which could be fun to witness.
5 Shouldn’t Face: Natalya
A match between Natalya and Asuka would certainly be a lot of fun to watch, as they are both brilliant wrestlers. However, there isn’t much interest from a fan perspective in seeing these two women compete in a storyline. It’s the type of match that would work on SmackDown.
People don’t want to see them go into a major feud against each other right now, as Natalya’s current character is a little hit-and-miss. If WWE wants to bring Asuka back to the top level, then this is one that the company should avoid booking.
4 Should Face: Sonya Deville
Sonya Deville’s character has been excellent recently, and inside the ring, she has made huge strides forwards. There is an easy storyline to work with due to Sonya’s position as an authority figure, and being able to blend that into Asuka’s return could work out well.
The company is high on Deville, and her in-ring work brings elements of her MMA past, which is something that would compliment Asuka’s striking style. It’s a storyline that would be new for both of them, and it would certainly be intriguing to witness.
3 Shouldn’t Face: Shotzi
Shotzi is a great wrestler to watch inside the ring. However, she is not quite there yet to the point where she should be working a feud with Asuka, mainly because there has been no character development with her on the main roster so far.
If WWE took the time to push Shotzi, then a storyline with The Empress Of Tomorrow could be intriguing to watch. But for right now, she’s not at the level to where fans would be getting excited about this taking place, building to a PPV encounter.
2 Should Face: Bianca Belair
Bianca Belair is one of the biggest stars in WWE right now, and she has truly risen to the top of the business over the past year. She and Asuka have never shared the ring for a singles match, and that is an exciting prospect that a lot of fans would enjoy watching take place.
The two of them would work well inside the ring, with Asuka’s striking being met by pure power and pace. It would be a great test for both of them, and this has the potential of being a brilliant championship feud that fans would easily get onboard with.
1 Shouldn’t Face: Becky Lynch
When looking back at Asuka’s WWE career, Becky Lynch has been one of her greatest rivals. The two of them have had a lot of great matches, and there is no doubt that they work well together. Because Becky is one of WWE’s biggest stars, the temptation can be there to put them together again.
However, this is a storyline that has been done a lot, which is why the company should consider holding off on this for a while. There are enough options that WWE can choose from before heading back to this one.
