Tennis world No.1 Novak Djokovic, has trained for the first time with Carlos Alcaraz, and the Serbian has revealed that the Spaniard is his son’s new favourite player.
The Serb revealed he was especially excited to cross paths with the young player from Murcia because of the admiration that his son Stefan has for him.
“In recent months for my son, Nadal is no longer number one, it’s Alcaraz. He changed his favourite player,” he revealed on the tournament’s Twitch.
Last February, in an interview with the BBC, the 20-time major champion acknowledged that his son “cheered for Nadal during the Australian final against Medvedev”.
The emergence of Alcaraz, recent champion in Miami and the Godo, has changed the preferences of the youngest of the Djokovic family.
The Serbian had arranged to train with Alcaraz at the last Australian Open, but when he was detained by the local government for COVID-19 related reasons, plans changed and the historic meeting did not take place.
