Mike Tyson, the former boxing champion and iconic fighter, will star alongside Sean Penn and Tye Sheridan in Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire’s upcoming dramatic thriller Black Flies.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyson will portray the superior officer of both Penn and Sheridan, two New York City paramedics, in the film. Sheridan will portray a first-year medic eager to serve folks on the streets of New York. However, when he and his partner, Penn, continue to face difficult choices on the streets, his willingness to serve will be tested to its limits.
Black Flies: Synopsis
Black Flies is a film version of Shannon Burke’s novel of the same name, with Burke, Ben Mac Brown, and Ryan King co-writing the script.
The official synopsis of the novel states, “Black Flies is the story of paramedic Ollie Cross and his first year on the job in mid-90s New York.” “It’s a firsthand account of life on the streets: shootouts, terrible cops, insane medics, hopeless patients, dark humour in unusual settings, and one medic’s battle to reconcile his desire to help with his developing callousness.” It’s a narrative about lives on the line, and how a single assignment with a misdiagnosed newborn propels Cross and his partner into a life-altering battle between good and evil.”
Tyson is due to star in the Indian sports action flick Liger later this year, but hasn’t acted in a film since 2019’s Hamlet Pharon. Tyson does have an acting resume, having appeared in films such as The Hangover, the Scary Movie series, Ip Man 3, China Salesman, and others.
